Throughout the summer, Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar is spotlighting Italy’s best cuisine with its Summer Regional Menu Series, offering a changing rotation of prix-fixe menus. A menu of traditional Italian meals from Tuscany will be featured from July 27 – Aug. 9 and, like each four-course menu in this-ever series, is priced at just $49 per person. In addition, select bottles of wine, chosen by Ferraro’s sommelier to complement the featured menu, are offered at special values as well.

Much of Tuscany’s typical fare has peasant roots. Ingredients such as bread, cannellini beans, cheese, vegetables and mushrooms frequently appear in Tuscan dishes. This menu’s Tuscan specialties include Lardo di Colonnata (Colonnata lard), which, is a cured meat made with pork lard cured in marble. Traditional Tuscan dining often includes panzanella – a salad-style dish served  cold with cubes of unsalted bread, tomatoes, red onion, olive oil, vinegar, and salt – and a pine nut-flavored dessert from Siena.
