Ferraro’s has been the premier choice for Las Vegas Italian fine dining because of our dedication to authentic, fresh ingredients. Italian food has forever been associated with the drizzle of pure extra-virgin olive oil, the intense tartness of balsamic vinegar, the crisp juiciness of a tomato, and the deep power of garlic – just to name a few characteristics! These simple yet potent ingredients are the foundation for the cuisine we serve at Ferraro’s, and when paired with one of our expertly-curated wines, you have an amazing dining experience at hand.
Get to know what makes these ingredients so special before you join us here in Las Vegas! You will have a better appreciation for not only their health benefits, but also how they stand out in our signature dishes.
Olive Oil
The most commonly used oil in the Mediterranean is also among the healthiest cooking oils you could consume. Extra-virgin olive oil, in particular, is lower in saturated fats compared to butter and helps with cholesterol levels. It is also high in antioxidants that have been linked to heart health.
You’ll find extra-virgin olive oil across our menu, from our Ferraro salad and mushroom risotto to our pastas and torta all’olio, which features a rosemary-infused extra-virgin olive oil cake with blueberry compote and mascarpone cream sauce.
Tomatoes
Tomatoes are so versatile in Italian food. A simple, ripe tomato can provide refreshing life to a salad or be the foundation for a hearty, delicious red sauce for pasta. They are featured in nearly every section of our menu (apart from the wine, of course), and the tomatoes come in different types and forms.
A diet of tomatoes one of the most enjoyable ways to eat healthy. They are packed with vitamin C and lycopene, one antioxidant linked to keeping the heart health and preventing certain cancers. You’ll also find Vitamin A, potassium, and folate in tomatoes, and all of these benefits remain largely unchanged even in cooked tomatoes.
Garlic
We could go on and on about the health benefits of garlic, which packs serious punches in both nutrition and flavor. Calorie for calorie, garlic is a powerhouse of essential nutrients, including manganese, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and fiber – to name a few. Garlic is known to boost the immune system, reduce blood pressure, improve cholesterol levels and bone health, prevent Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia, and overall just help you live longer.
Garlic is also absolutely delicious. Italian food is just one culinary culture to recognize garlic’s health benefits and its powerhouse of flavor. At Ferraro’s, roasted and sautéed garlic supplement a number of our favorite dishes, including our house-made gnocchi, spaghetti aglio e olio, rigatoni salsiccia, and chicken vesuvio.
Balsamic Vinegar
Balsamic vinegar is enjoying increasing popularity in the U.S., but the dark and fragrant vinegar has been a part of Italian cuisine for hundreds of years. True balsamic vinegar is made from the juice of grapes that haven’t been allowed to ferment into wine, and it offers a sweet, pungent taste that works well in salad dressings and marinades. Balsamic vinegar is featured in our insalata mimmo, which is a refreshing combination of vine-ripened tomatoes, avocado, red onion, mozzarella, and extra-virgin olive oil.
Basil
There are a lot of herbs you can find in a kitchen, but basil stands out as one of the healthiest and most popular. The sweet, earthy scent of fresh basil is almost instantly recognizable, but its many nutritional benefits aren’t as well known. Some include vitamin K, which is essential in preventing blood clotting, and vitamin A, which is important for growth, the immune system, and good vision. Along with the several other vitamins and minerals, basil also boasts antibacterial properties. Our menu boasts basil in multiple forms, including fresh basil in salads, basil oil, and even as a pesto.
Wine
As much as we are proud of our cuisine, we are just as proud of our reputation as a wine restaurant. Our wine bar is for the most hedonistic wine lover, as our cellar is stocked with the best varietals from Italy, Spain, California, Australia, and South America.
When it comes to health benefits, moderate consumption of wine, particularly red wine, has been linked to heart health. Other eye-opening benefits include evidence that wine promotes long life, improves short-term memory, and cuts the risk of stroke, cataracts, and certain types of cancer. During your visit to Ferraro’s, be sure to top off your dining experience with a glass or two!
