Buon Giorno a Tutti!
The extraordinary flavors of spring are here, just in time for Ferraro’s next Taste & Learn, to be held Saturday, March 31, at 5 p.m. This month, we will travel to Campania to experience the wines of Mastroberardino.
The very top producer of the region, Mastroberardino has been producing quality wines since the 18th century. Campania is known for its noble grape, Aglianico, which is known as “the Barolo of the south.”
At this Taste & Learn, we will feature the Taurasi, Radici Riserva, whose 2006 vintage received the Wine of the Year award in Italy. There was an exceptionally limited production of this vintage, so it’s extremely difficult to find. You will not want to miss the chance to taste this jewel among Italian wines!
With the Easter season upon us, these traditional varietals from Campania will be accompanied by our award-winning Chef Francesco DiCaudo’s Neapolitan dishes, which will feature the best flavors of spring. The menu for the evening follows:
First Course
Fiano d’Avellino, 2016
Paired with Fellata e Casatiello – Neapolitan Easter bread
Second Course
Aglianico Campania, 2015
Paired with Minestra Marinata – brassicaceae (a cruciferous member of the cabbage family) and sausage soup
