Buon Giorno, Tutti!
I’m pleased to announce La Gerla as the featured winemaker for our next Taste & Learn event, to take place Saturday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. Winemaker Alberto Passeri will be joining us all the way from Montalcino, Italy, famous around the world for its incomparable Brunellos.
On this night, we will be tasting two different Brunellos, including La Gerla’s award-winning single-vineyard Brunello “Gli Angeli”—there’s a reason why they’ve named this wine after angels, believe me! La Gerla is a small, exceptionally high-quality winery which adheres to the traditional Italian winemaking methods. None of their wines ever see the inside of a French oak cask—which makes me very happy, as you know.
The menu for our La Gerla Taste & Learn follows:
First Course
QUAGLIA – Quail egg lollipop, grape, figs, lavender jus
Poggio Gli Angeli, 2014
Second Course
GUANCIALE DI MAIALE – Sliced pork cheeks, matsutake mushrooms, bosc pear
Rosso di Montalcino, 2013
Third Course
RAVIOLI DI PATATE – Potato–truffle ravioli, wild boar ragù
Brunello di Montalcino, 2010
Main Course
CERVO – Lard-wrapped venison loin, sweet potato, porcini mushrooms, spicy red onion jam
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva “Gli Angeli,” 2010
